Chair­man of the Kuwait As­so­ci­a­tion for Ba­sic El­e­ments of Hu­man Rights Dr Yousef Al-Sager stressed that de­vel­op­ments in pro­tect­ing hu­man rights have led to con­sid­er­able changes in NGOs’ work­ing pat­terns. Speak­ing at a press con­fer­ence, Sager said that in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the UN’s Hu­man Rights Com­mis­sion in the Mid­dle East, the as­so­ci­a­tion will hold a work­shop on fol­low­ing up UN rec­om­men­da­tions on hu­man rights at 5:00 pm today at its head­quar­ters.

Head of the PAAET aca­demic staff syn­di­cate Dr Mubarak Al-Tharwa an­nounced that the syn­di­cate re­ceived PAAET Di­rec­tor Dr Ahmed Al-Athari and his deputies to dis­cuss a num­ber of aca­demic and ad­min­is­tra­tive is­sues.

Well-in­formed sources at the Ex­pro­pri­a­tion De­part­ment de­nied any in­ten­tions to pur­chase land plots still owned by cit­i­zens in Salmiya and Jleeb for the time be­ing.

10th of Muhar­ram

MPs Ab­dul­lah Al-Tamimi and Saleh Ashour yes­ter­day urged the govern­ment and var­i­ous govern­ment and pri­vate estab­lish­ments to ex­cuse the ab­sence of em­ploy­ees on Ashoura, the 10th of Muhar­ram, (today) which com­mem­o­rates the mar­tyr­dom of Imam Hus­sein.
