Family attacker ‘not extremist’: Police
The Ministry of Interior’s relations and security information department said a 35-year-old Saudi and his mother told Sulaibiya police they were attacked by his brother with a knife, and accused him of having extremist ideas. Police arrested the accused and questioned him, and authorities concluded what took place was a domestic dispute. They said the suspect is unstable and he was referred to determine his mental condition. Earlier reports based on unconfirmed information had speculated that the suspect could have acted from extremist motives.
Farwaniya detectives arrested a nine-member gang that stole from several shops. The arrests were made following complaints about the thefts, and all were registered against unidentified persons. Patrols intensified their activities, and with the use of an undercover source, the culprits were identified and arrested. They confessed to committing several crimes.
A Kuwaiti born in 1978 was arrested for having several unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Weapons detectives arrested the suspect in Jahra with two pistols, a shotgun and ammunition. The man was taken to the proper authorities for further action.
