Ibtikar competition focuses on discovering students’ talents
It is important to develop the Ibtikar competition in ways that help discover students’ talents, develop their creativity and scientific research skills, and instill loyalty and patriotism within them, an official said yesterday.
Speaking during an awareness meeting with students and their teachers held at the Ibtikar Al-Kuwait Initiative’s head office, Board Chairperson Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah AlSalem Al-Sabah indicated that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah’s patronage puts a great deal of responsibility upon organizers of the competition that the initiative organizes for the 16th consecutive year. She added that the ‘Ibtikar Competition’ was inspired by the values of ‘His Highness the Amir of Humanity’.
Sheikha Fadia also stressed that in response to His Highness the Amir’s call to encourage youth, the initiative focuses on empowering the women of tomorrow through investing in school girls today, in order to prepare them to take part in the process of developing Kuwait according to the 2030 development plan.
In addition, Sheikha Fadia affirmed that Ibitikar was a non-profiting educational and training initiative meant to support Kuwait’s efforts in improving education, encouraging creativity amongst students, developing knowledge-based economy using modern technology and developing e-curriculums with the ultimate goal of meeting the educational requirements of the 21st century. Moreover, Sheikha Fadia said that training sessions held as part of the initiative would take place after school and that trainers would explore the girls’ own ideas and help develop their skills.
Meanwhile, Director General of Ibtikar Dr Fatima Al-Hashim highly valued the cooperation with the Ministry of Education (MOE), and explained that Ibtikar’s competition for high school girls would adapt the latest international trend of integrating the study of science, math and geometry, which is currently used by the American University of Beirut (AUB).
