Ibtikar com­pe­ti­tion fo­cuses on dis­cov­er­ing stu­dents’ tal­ents

It is im­por­tant to de­velop the Ibtikar com­pe­ti­tion in ways that help dis­cover stu­dents’ tal­ents, de­velop their cre­ativ­ity and sci­en­tific re­search skills, and in­still loy­alty and pa­tri­o­tism within them, an of­fi­cial said yes­ter­day.

Speak­ing dur­ing an aware­ness meet­ing with stu­dents and their teach­ers held at the Ibtikar Al-Kuwait Ini­tia­tive’s head of­fice, Board Chair­per­son Sheikha Fa­dia Saad Al-Ab­dul­lah AlSalem Al-Sabah in­di­cated that His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber AlSabah’s pa­tron­age puts a great deal of re­spon­si­bil­ity upon or­ga­niz­ers of the com­pe­ti­tion that the ini­tia­tive or­ga­nizes for the 16th con­sec­u­tive year. She added that the ‘Ibtikar Com­pe­ti­tion’ was in­spired by the val­ues of ‘His High­ness the Amir of Hu­man­ity’.

Sheikha Fa­dia also stressed that in re­sponse to His High­ness the Amir’s call to en­cour­age youth, the ini­tia­tive fo­cuses on em­pow­er­ing the women of to­mor­row through in­vest­ing in school girls to­day, in or­der to pre­pare them to take part in the process of de­vel­op­ing Kuwait ac­cord­ing to the 2030 de­vel­op­ment plan.

In ad­di­tion, Sheikha Fa­dia af­firmed that Ibitikar was a non-prof­it­ing ed­u­ca­tional and train­ing ini­tia­tive meant to sup­port Kuwait’s ef­forts in im­prov­ing ed­u­ca­tion, en­cour­ag­ing cre­ativ­ity amongst stu­dents, de­vel­op­ing knowl­edge-based econ­omy us­ing mod­ern tech­nol­ogy and de­vel­op­ing e-cur­ricu­lums with the ul­ti­mate goal of meet­ing the ed­u­ca­tional re­quire­ments of the 21st cen­tury. More­over, Sheikha Fa­dia said that train­ing ses­sions held as part of the ini­tia­tive would take place af­ter school and that train­ers would ex­plore the girls’ own ideas and help de­velop their skills.

Mean­while, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Ibtikar Dr Fa­tima Al-Hashim highly val­ued the co­op­er­a­tion with the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion (MOE), and ex­plained that Ibtikar’s com­pe­ti­tion for high school girls would adapt the lat­est in­ter­na­tional trend of in­te­grat­ing the study of sci­ence, math and ge­om­e­try, which is cur­rently used by the Amer­i­can Univer­sity of Beirut (AUB).
