Fos­ter­ing chil­dren’s cul­tural skills pri­mary goal

Car­ing for and fos­ter­ing chil­dren’s cul­tural skills is a pri­mary goal for the Na­tional Coun­cil of Cul­ture, Arts and Let­ters (NCCAL), said Bader AlDuweesh, the Coun­cil’s as­sis­tant sec­re­tary gen­eral on Tues­day. Rep­re­sent­ing In­for­ma­tion Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of State for Youth Af­fairs Sheikh Sal­man AlSabah, who is also Chair­man of NCCAL, Duweesh said in a press re­lease that the fifth chil­dren fes­ti­val; or­ga­nized by Dhuwa AlYad­dah Cen­tre, ma­te­ri­al­izes the Coun­cil’s strat­egy that aims at es­tab­lish­ing part­ner­ship be­tween civil so­ci­ety and the pri­vate sec­tor in a bid to sus­tain the cul­tural move­ment in Kuwait.

Mean­while, Di­rec­tor of the Cen­ter Ab­dul­mohsen Al-Sa­nee said in a speech at the open­ing of the fes­ti­val that the tar­get de­mo­graphic (young­sters) are the cen­ter’s main in­ter­est, chan­nel­ing their en­er­gies to­wards what is use­ful. The fes­ti­val, last­ing un­til Novem­ber 5, is tak­ing place at Ab­du­laziz Hus­sein Cul­tural Cen­ter. It will have work­shops, sem­i­nars and en­ter­tain­ment pro­grams for chil­dren, in­clud­ing the ones with dis­abil­i­ties. Es­tab­lished in 2009, Dhuwa Al-Yad­dah Cen­tre is a vol­un­teer­ing en­tity that aims at pre­serv­ing Kuwaiti her­itage.
