The awareness event had a great audience from cancer patients and their families to healthcare professionals, besides representatives from the society to support this cause.

Dani Saleh, Area General Manager of Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Kuwait, and Dr Rania Azmi, President of “Fadia Survive and Thrive” Association for Cancer Patients’ support, gave a warm welcome to the audience, emphasizing the importance of this gathering to raise the awareness about cancer and equally to highlight aspects of people’s quality of life that could help in prevention. Saleh and Dr Azmi further expressed their gratitude to the distinguished guest speakers who devoted their time to transfer their expertise to the public, especially Dr Fahad Abdul Rahman Marafi and Fadia Abdel Salam Ibrahim.

“The ‘Together We Are Stronger than Cancer’ awareness slogan has been an integral part of our commitment to the society we live in”, Dani reiterated, “an inevitable part of our corporate social responsibility and we’ll continue this mission as long as we are here.”

The awareness event started with Fadia Abdel Salam Ibrahim, a retired department chairwoman in the Education field, and an influential educational figure with decades of experience, where she presented a lecture about cancer journey. This was followed by an appealing lecture by Dr Fahad Abdul Rahman Marafi, President of Kuwait Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and a clinical expert and lecturer for the International Atomic Energy Agency, who emphasized the Cancer detection issue from a scientific perspective. The awareness event was concluded by a presentation about cancer stakeholders’ efforts and mechanisms for activating quality of life from a patients’ advocate perspective, given by Dr Rania Azmi in her capacity as a local and international cancer patients’ advocate.

The Konoz Ballroom, at Millennium Hotel Kuwait was the venue where the function went on. After the awareness lectures there was a raffle draw, followed by light dinner. Several ‘Gift’ Vouchers, sponsored by Millennium Hotel and Convention Centre, Al-Jahra Copthorne Hotel and ResortKuwait and La Plus Belle Salon and Institute were given away to the guests. It is worth mentioning that the exterior lighting of the hotel’s building was sponsored by Victoria Wedding and Event Management Company, in solidarity with the activities of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
