Kuwaiti poet feted in global ceremony
AL AYOUN: Famed Kuwaiti poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, along with his compatriot businessman Jawad Boukhamseen, were honored yesterday in a global poetic ceremony held in the Moroccan city of Al Ayoun. The two Kuwaiti nationals were feted for their contributions to Arab culture and poetry, head of the ceremony Dr. Louiza Balbros said. Moreover, she noted that the Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation is home to many prolific poets, adding that Al-Babtain was honored for devoting his career to further Arabic language and poetry. The ceremony, which coincided with Green March Day, a memory deeply entrenched in the minds of Moroccans, where a mass demonstration in November 1975 forced Spain to hand over the disputed province of Spanish Sahara to Morocco. The ceremony, patronized by Moroccan King Mohammed VI, brought together many standouts in the worlds of poetry and literature.
