Con­tract signed for la­bor city project

KUWAIT: Kuwait Au­thor­ity for Part­ner­ship Projects (KAPP) has signed a con­tract be­tween pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tors and a group of com­pa­nies headed by ‘Pro­jacs’ for projects man­age­ment, to pro­vide spe­cial ad­vi­sory for the South Al-Jahra La­bor City project. South Al-Jahra La­bor City will be of­fered for in­vest­ment with the es­tab­lish­ment of a Kuwaiti share­hold­ing com­pany, KAPP said in a state­ment.

The com­pany will be es­tab­lished in ac­cor­dance with the coun­try’s build, op­er­ate and trans­fer (BOT) sys­tem and Law No 116 of 2014. The project aims to pro­vide hous­ing for ex­pats with low in­comes in peace with good en­vi­ron­men­tal and ser­vice stan­dards that in­clude all se­cu­rity, health, en­ter­tain­ing and so­cial fa­cil­i­ties for em­ploy­ment, it said.

The project’s area ex­ceeds one mil­lion square me­ters, with a ca­pac­ity of 20, 000 work­ers. The du­ra­tion of the project is es­ti­mated to be 40 years ac­cord­ing to build-op­er­ate-trans­fer (BOT) sys­tem, in­clud­ing three years of de­sign and con­struc­tion.
