Minister forms committee to supervise elections
KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled AlSabah yesterday issued a ministerial decision on forming a special committee jointly with Kuwait Municipality to supervise the upcoming parliamentary elections and report to the interior minister and the minister of state for municipal affairs weekly.
The Municipal Council approved a request by the Environment Public Authority (EPA) to sanction Shadadiya industrial area’s structural plan and a project to design, execute and maintain the area’s infrastructure. The request was unanimously approved. Meanwhile, the council’s Chairman Muhalhel Al-Khaled said he is awaiting the election department’s final decision on disbarring some candidates today before he makes his final decision concerning the resignation of council members running for the parliamentary elections. The council also agreed to a request by the Gulf Oil Company to adjust the path of some pipelines and another to install a pipeline between Mina Abdullah and the port’s refinery. The municipal council also approved a request to build a mosque in Mangaf and family residences for imams and muezzins.
