Sports to see ‘huge leap’ in the fu­ture: Min­is­ter

Sports in the coun­try will be see­ing a huge leap filled with great achieve­ments in the fore­see­able fu­ture, Min­is­ter of In­for­ma­tion and Min­is­ter of State for Youth Af­fairs Sheikh Sal­man Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hu­moud Al-Sabah said yes­ter­day. The Min­is­ter made this re­mark, to the press, fol­low­ing a tour he took to newly con­structed sports es­tab­lish­ments of Ab­dul­lah Al-Khal­ifa sta­dium and Sheikh Saad Al-Ab­dul­lah com­plex for in­door sports.

Sheikh Sal­man Al-Hu­moud pointed out that these newly sports venues have been built in ac­cor­dance to in­ter­na­tional stan­dards to meet the coun­try’s goals to im­prove sports and pro­vide ath­letes with all nec­es­sary needs to help them ex­cel in their fields.

He added that Sheikh Saad Al-Ab­d­u­al­lah com­plex is con­sid­ered a “grand” sport­ing venue that con­sists of three ma­jor build­ings: one for mul­ti­pur­pose sta­dium that could seat 5,000 peo­ple; the sec­ond for Bas­ket­ball and the third for vol­ley­ball of which each could fit in 1,000 spec­ta­tors. The min­is­ter pointed out that the con­struc­tion of the com­plex will be fin­ished in the first quarter of 2017. The min­is­ter was ac­com­pa­nied dur­ing the tour by chair­man of Pub­lic Au­thor­ity for Sport (PAS) Sheikh Ah­mad Al-Man­sour Al-Sabah and his vice chair­man Sheikh Hu­moud Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Both of­fi­cials said that PAS is keen on com­mu­ni­ca­tion with all tech­ni­cal and ad­vi­sory chan­nels to com­plete these sports es­tab­lish­ment in a timely fash­ion.
