AOU work­shop on per­for­mance eval­u­a­tion of safety su­per­vi­sors

In col­lab­o­ra­tion and co­or­di­na­tion with the Kuwait Na­tional Guard (KNG), the Train­ing Cen­ter of the Arab Open Univer­sity (AOU) or­ga­nized a work­shop on “The eval­u­a­tion of per­for­mance safety su­per­vi­sors ac­cord­ing to OSHA stan­dards” for a num­ber of en­gi­neers from the Min­istry of Elec­tric­ity and water. The five­day pro­gram was or­ga­nized within the frame­work of the co­op­er­a­tion pro­to­col signed be­tween the AOU and KNG in June 2014.

The pro­to­col aims to de­velop the hu­man el­e­ment and ex­ploit all the means that strengthen loy­alty and pa­tri­o­tism. This re­flects the di­rec­tives of both the mil­i­tary and po­lit­i­cal lead­er­ship in Kuwait, and the founder of the AOU, HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz, and the Mem­bers of AOU Trus­tees Board.

On the first and sec­ond day, First Lieu­tenant Ad­nan, lec­tured about the res­pi­ra­tory sys­tem, blood dis­eases and first aids. On the third day, First Lieu­tenant Eng Mathar Ahmed ad­dressed the in­dus­trial safety. Then, the last two days of the work­shop de­liv­ered by Lieu­tenant Colonel Eng. Baty Jas­sim, who spoke about oc­cu­pa­tional safety and health ad­min­is­tra­tion (OSHA). He ad­dressed sev­eral top­ics, such as OSHA stan­dards and pro­ce­dures, and fire­fight­ing equip­ment and mech­a­nisms.

At the end of the work­shop, Dr Sami Khal­ifa, Man­ager of the Train­ing Cen­ter, pre­sented the cer­tifi­cates to the par­tic­i­pants, laud­ing par­tic­i­pants’ com­mit­ment and their pos­i­tive in­ter­ac­tion dur­ing the work­shop. He also ex­pressed his grat­i­tude and ap­pre­ci­a­tion to KNG and Min­istry of Elec­tric­ity and Water for their co­op­er­a­tion and trust in the AOU Train­ing Cen­ter. He stressed that the AOU is keen on con­tri­bu­tion to pre­par­ing man­power re­quired by sus­tain­able devel­op­ment in Kuwait and the Arab world in or­der to achieve the mis­sion and vi­sion of the Univer­sity, which strives to spread knowl­edge and build skills and ca­pa­bil­i­ties pur­suant to lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional qual­ity stan­dards.
