AOU workshop on performance evaluation of safety supervisors
In collaboration and coordination with the Kuwait National Guard (KNG), the Training Center of the Arab Open University (AOU) organized a workshop on “The evaluation of performance safety supervisors according to OSHA standards” for a number of engineers from the Ministry of Electricity and water. The fiveday program was organized within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the AOU and KNG in June 2014.
The protocol aims to develop the human element and exploit all the means that strengthen loyalty and patriotism. This reflects the directives of both the military and political leadership in Kuwait, and the founder of the AOU, HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz, and the Members of AOU Trustees Board.
On the first and second day, First Lieutenant Adnan, lectured about the respiratory system, blood diseases and first aids. On the third day, First Lieutenant Eng Mathar Ahmed addressed the industrial safety. Then, the last two days of the workshop delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Eng. Baty Jassim, who spoke about occupational safety and health administration (OSHA). He addressed several topics, such as OSHA standards and procedures, and firefighting equipment and mechanisms.
At the end of the workshop, Dr Sami Khalifa, Manager of the Training Center, presented the certificates to the participants, lauding participants’ commitment and their positive interaction during the workshop. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to KNG and Ministry of Electricity and Water for their cooperation and trust in the AOU Training Center. He stressed that the AOU is keen on contribution to preparing manpower required by sustainable development in Kuwait and the Arab world in order to achieve the mission and vision of the University, which strives to spread knowledge and build skills and capabilities pursuant to local and international quality standards.
