Kuwait de­liv­ers 3,000 food bas­kets to dis­placed Iraqis flee­ing Mo­sul

Some 3,000 food bas­kets were de­liv­ered to Iraqis flee­ing the mil­i­tary op­er­a­tions in Mo­sul city, said a Kuwaiti diplo­mat yes­ter­day. Kuwait Gen­eral Con­sul to Mo­sul Dr Omar Al-Kan­deri said that his coun­try was keen on help­ing dis­placed Iraqis flee­ing from the city of Mo­sul which is un­der the grip of the so­called Is­lamic State (IS). The aid cam­paign is a re­flec­tion of the Kuwaiti lead­er­ship and peo­ple’s con­tin­u­ous ef­forts to help Iraqis dur­ing their dark­est time, said Kan­deri. Re­lief aid of­fi­cials in the Kur­dis­tan re­gion com­mended the ef­forts by Kuwait, say­ing that these ef­forts were well re­ceived by the lo­cals. Kuwait has handed around 170,000 food bas­kets since the be­gin­ning of 2016. —KUNA
