Forum presents Kuwaiti with lifetime achievement award
BEIRUT: The Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) honored yesterday Kuwait’s Dr Abdurrahman Al-Awadhi with the lifetime achievement award for his efforts and services in the environmental field.
AFED’s Secretary General Najib Saab said that Dr Al-Awadhi, former Health Minister of Kuwait, was among the founding figures that helped in the establishment of the forum. Meanwhile, Awadhi said that he was very proud to have received the AFED award during a ceremony, held at the American University of Beirut.
He revealed that Arab countries had worked effortlessly in the past few years to push for environmental awareness and development, noting that his country, in the previous two decades, had focused relentlessly on achieving its sustainable development goals with a keen eye on protecting the environment. The forum was established in 2006 as a non-profit and non-governmental institute aimed at promoting environment protection policies in the Arab World.
