Sheikh Sal­man vis­its elec­tions stu­dio

KUWAIT: Min­is­ter of In­for­ma­tion and Min­is­ter of State for Youth Af­fairs Sheikh Sal­man Al-Sabah Satur­day vis­ited min­istry’s com­mu­ni­ca­tion cen­ter and Stu­dio 800 that will cover the forth­com­ing par­lia­men­tary elec­tions. Dur­ing the tour, Sheikh Sal­man was ac­quainted with the lat­est prepa­ra­tions in the cen­ter that is equipped with 25 com­put­ers, and 25 tele­phone lines to cover the five con­stituen­cies. Stu­dio 800 was pro­vided with the nec­es­sary dec­o­ra­tions and a huge TV screen to air in­for­ma­tion lively on the polling day.

The Min­istry of In­for­ma­tion is pro­ceed­ing with the fi­nal stages of the prepa­ra­tions to cover the 2016 elec­tions, slated for Novem­ber 26, said Un­der­sec­re­tary Tareq Al-Mezrem, who ac­com­pa­nied Sheikh Sal­man dur­ing the tour. He added that prior to the tour, Sheikh Sal­man held a meet­ing with the min­istry’s se­nior of­fi­cials on the ar­range­ments to cover the elec­tions. The com­mu­ni­ca­tion hub the min­is­ter vis­ited to­day is the min­istry’s ‘com­mand cen­ter’ for the cov­er­age of the elec­tion day, that will re­ceive data from the re­porters in each con­stituency, he added.

Mezrem noted that Stu­dio 800, where ar­range­ments are still un­der­way, is pro­vided with the lat­est tech­no­log­i­cal de­vices for the his­tor­i­cal day. Ac­cord­ing to the min­istry’s se­nior of­fi­cial, tremen­dous ef­forts have been lav­ished, and 20 ve­hi­cle trans­mis­sion have been ar­ranged to fol­low 650 re­porters for the live broad­cast of the event, since 7:00 in the morn­ing and till re­sults are an­nounced.

Part of the ar­range­ments of the day, the min­istry has in­creased the ca­pac­ity of live broad­cast on so­cial net­work­ing sites as well as the smart­phone ap­pli­ca­tions. Trans­mis­sion via the in­ter­net will be con­ducted through the Kuwait TV. Mean­while, Mezrem said that a host of prom­i­nent me­dia fig­ures from dif­fer­ent world coun­tries will visit Kuwait, to cover the event and to see for them­selves the demo­cratic ex­pe­ri­ence in the country. —KUNA
