Duo held on visa forgery charges

KUWAIT: Two peo­ple were ar­rested on charges of forg­ing stamps placed on res­i­dency visa re­newal ap­pli­ca­tions. The sus­pects, both Egyp­tians, were ar­rested in an am­bush in Hawally that was set up af­ter de­tec­tives con­firmed in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing their il­le­gal ac­tiv­ity. One of the sus­pects has a crim­i­nal record and is wanted on three swin­dling charges. He is also wanted to pay a KD 9,224 debt. Two pass­ports and a num­ber of forged stamps were found in the sus­pects’ res­i­dence when it was searched. They were re­ferred to the con­cerned au­thor­i­ties to face charges.

Mean­while, seven peo­ple were in­jured in a fire re­ported in Rig­gae yes­ter­day. Four of the victims were treated on­site, while the re­main­ing three were sent to Sabah Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. Fire­fight­ers were able to con­tain the fire, which started in a sec­ond­floor apart­ment, and pre­vented the flames from spread­ing to nearby apart­ments. A case was filed to in­ves­ti­gate the causes of the fire.

In other news, Kuwait Mu­nic­i­pal­ity an­nounced that emer­gency teams re­moved 32 camps that were set up il­le­gally at the Mina Ab­dul­lah scrap­yard. Four makeshift baqalas (gro­cery stores) were also re­moved dur­ing the cam­paign.
