Two bo­gus do­mes­tic help of­fices busted

Res­i­dency de­tec­tives busted two bo­gus do­mes­tic help of­fices. The first was us­ing ab­scond­ing do­mes­tic helpers to work on daily bases, while the sec­ond en­cour­aged them to ab­scond from their spon­sors in ex­change of dou­ble pay­ment. An Egyp­tian who took ab­scond­ing helpers to homes was caught with two Filip­inas. The first Filip­ina was ab­scond­ing, while the sec­ond had agreed with her spon­sor to work for oth­ers and pay him part of the money she made. The Egyp­tian told police about a third per­son, who is a res­i­dency law vi­o­la­tor, who con­fessed that he receives a monthly salary of KD 250 for co­or­di­nat­ing with ab­scond­ing helpers. Mean­while in the sec­ond of­fice, de­tec­tives re­ceived a com­plaint from a cit­i­zen about a bo­gus do­mes­tic help of­fice that cheated cit­i­zens and ex­pats. In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that an Egyp­tian agreed with cit­i­zens to bring do­mes­tic helpers for KD 400 and gave them a re­ceipt. He also claimed that he will process the res­i­dency trans­fer from the old spon­sor to the new one. He then urged the maid to ab­scond. In a sep­a­rate case, res­i­dency de­tec­tives car­ried out a cam­paign on health cen­ters, clin­ics, sa­lons and lab­o­ra­to­ries, ar­rest­ing 15 per­sons in vi­o­la­tion of res­i­dency law. Twelve of them had ar­ti­cle 20 (do­mes­tic help) res­i­den­cies, while three had ar­ti­cle 18 visas. All were sent to con­cerned au­thor­i­ties.

Li­cense re­voked

As part of the mea­sures taken by the mu­nic­i­pal­ity to re­fer to the pros­e­cu­tion the in­ci­dent of a build­ing col­laps­ing in Hawally while be­ing de­mol­ished, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Ah­mad Al-Man­fouhi is­sued two de­ci­sions. The first is to re­voke the li­cense of the con­tract­ing com­pany that was car­ry­ing out the job, and the sec­ond to sus­pend the en­gi­neer­ing of­fice for one year, based on dis­ci­plinary mea­sures men­tioned in law 33/2016.

Traf­fic cam­paign

Traf­fic de­tec­tives car­ried out a cam­paign on sev­eral vi­tal roads re­sult­ing in de­tain­ing one per­son and im­pound­ing 17 vi­o­lat­ing ATVs.

En­vi­ron­ment police

En­vi­ron­ment police car­ried out in­spec­tions in camel graz­ing ar­eas in the desert to check on a re­ported truck that was dump­ing trash in vi­o­la­tion of the law. Police found the trash af­ter it had been burned, and the truck was traced to a gen­eral trad­ing com­pany. Le­gal mea­sures are be­ing taken.
