Lexus trans­formed the In­dus­try 27 years ago, Lexus Is do­ing It again

Lexus scored 95 prob­lems per 100 (PP100) ve­hi­cles and the over­all in­dus­try av­er­age was 152 PP100 this year, com­pared with 147 PP100 last year. The 2016 US Ve­hi­cle Depend­abil­ity Study was based on re­sponses from 33,560 orig­i­nal own­ers of 2013 mod­e­lyear ve­hi­cles af­ter three years of own­er­ship.

The study, now in its 27th year, ex­am­ines prob­lems ex­pe­ri­enced dur­ing the past 12 months by orig­i­nal own­ers of 2013 mod­e­lyear ve­hi­cles. Over­all depend­abil­ity is de­ter­mined by the num­ber of prob­lems ex­pe­ri­enced per 100 ve­hi­cles (PP100), with a lower score re­flect­ing higher qual­ity. “Re­li­able Brand” 4th year in a row: Lexus was also ranked among the more re­li­able brands in Con­sumer Re­ports’ lat­est sur­vey. As per the 2017 rank­ing Lexus earned a top score with an av­er­age re­li­a­bil­ity score of 86 with all nine Lexus models had aboveav­er­age re­li­a­bil­ity rat­ings. CT 200H hy­brid from Lexus was named the most re­li­able ve­hi­cle, the high­est among the more than 300 models rated by Con­sumer Re­ports read­ers. Con­sumer Re­ports pre­dicts the re­li­a­bil­ity of 2017 model-year brands and in­di­vid­ual ve­hi­cles based on sur­vey re­sponses from its sub­scribers. The mag­a­zine col­lected sub­scribers’ com­ments on ve­hi­cles they own from the 2000-2017 model years. Around 500,000 sub­scribers re­sponded to this year’s sur­vey.
