KIMS honors 136 doc­tors

Kuwait In­sti­tute for Med­i­cal Spe­cial­iza­tion (KIMS) of the Min­istry of Health, hon­ored on Tues­day 136 grad­u­ates who earned their Boards and Fel­low­ships in spe­cialty train­ing. The hon­or­ing cer­e­mony was un­der pa­tron­age of His High­ness the Prime Min­is­ter Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah.

On a speech on the oc­ca­sion, Health Min­is­ter Dr Ali AlObaidi said that grad­u­ate doc­tors will ded­i­cate their knowl­edge and ex­pe­ri­ences to pro­vid­ing a dis­tin­guished health­care ser­vice in ac­cor­dance with the most mod­ern in­ter­na­tional stan­dards.

Mean­while, Dr Ibrahim Hadi, KIMS’s secretary gen­eral, said three-year co­op­er­a­tion protocols are un­der­way with the Cana­dian Royal Col­lege since Novem­ber 1 in the fields of aca­demic ac­cred­i­ta­tion and med­i­cal train­ing.

This co­op­er­a­tion is part of KIMS’s vi­sion to de­velop its train­ing pro­grams in or­der to main­tain the grad­u­ates high­level of pro­fi­ciency. KIMS is the au­thor­ity re­spon­si­ble for or­ga­niz­ing all as­pects of post­grad­u­ate train­ing of med­i­cal prac­ti­tion­ers and other health pro­fes­sion­als in Kuwait.

It was es­tab­lished in 1984 un­der an Amiri de­cree. The in­sti­tute is en­gaged in a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing the or­ga­ni­za­tion of in­tern­ship train­ing of pre-reg­is­tra­tion med­i­cal grad­u­ates, spe­cialty train­ing at var­i­ous lev­els in dif­fer­ent med­i­cal fields, and con­tin­u­ing med­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion pro­grams for health pro­fes­sion­als prac­tic­ing in Kuwait. —KUNA
