Kuwait launches cam­paign to aid dis­placed in Syria

Kuwait’s Al-Rahma (mercy) In­ter­na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion sent yes­ter­day 62 trucks car­ry­ing aid to those in need in­side Syria, through the Turk­ish city of Hatay. This is Al-Rahma’s big­gest-ever hu­man­i­tar­ian aid in­side Syria, aim­ing to ease the suf­fer­ing of Syr­i­ans dur­ing ex­tremely cold weather, said the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s Sec­re­tary Gen­eral Yahya Al-Aqeeli in a press con­fer­ence.

The aid in­cludes food, blan­kets, cloth­ing, coal, mat­tresses and heaters for over 10,000 Syr­ian fam­i­lies, he added. AlRahma has pro­vided over $57 mil­lion worth of aid since the out­break of the Syr­ian cri­sis, said the of­fi­cial. The or­ga­ni­za­tion is also fund­ing schools, wa­ter dis­til­la­tion pro­ject, and psy­chi­atric treat­ments pro­grams for Syr­ian refugees, he noted. — KUNA
