Switzer­land honors Sheikh Nasser Al-Mo­ham­mad

Switzer­land hon­ored His High­ness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mo­ham­mad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait for his ef­forts to fur­ther re­la­tions be­tween both na­tions. He was awarded in a cer­e­mony held to mark 50 years since the in­cep­tion of bi­lat­eral ties be­tween Switzer­land and the State of Kuwait.

Pres­i­dent of Geneva Univer­sity Pro­fes­sor Yves Flueck­iger handed His High­ness Sheikh Nasser a com­mem­o­ra­tive medal chris­tened, ‘Schola Gen­even­sis’, in a cer­e­mony held last Fri­day, with Swiss Min­is­ter of State for For­eign Af­fairs Eves Rossier in at­ten­dance.

An alum­nus of Geneva Univer­sity, His High­ness Sheikh Nasser thanked all those that “have shared their wis­dom” with him. More­over, rem­i­nisc­ing on Kuwaiti-Swiss ties, he noted that he was the very first Kuwaiti diplo­mat to serve the Euro­pean Fed­eral Repub­lic, as he was ap­pointed Kuwait’s Con­sul Gen­eral in Switzer­land in 1966. Mean­while, in a speech of his own, the Swiss For­eign Min­is­ter lauded ties with Kuwait dur­ing the course of the last 50 years. Speak­ing on pupils of Geneva Univer­sity, Flueck­iger said that the school “is proud of its stu­dents, most notably, His High­ness Sheikh Nasser,” prais­ing him for his suc­cess­ful stint as Kuwait’s Am­bas­sador to Switzer­land. Af­ter the cer­e­mony, a ban­quet in honor of His High­ness Sheikh Nasser was held, where se­nior Swiss of­fi­cials were in at­ten­dance. — KUNA

KUWAIT: The United Arab Emi­rates’ Am­bas­sador to Kuwait Rahma Al-Zaabi hosted a re­cep­tion Mon­day night to cel­e­brate his coun­try’s na­tional day.
