Gulf Bank ap­points Da­her as Chief Executive Of­fi­cer

Gulf Bank yes­ter­day an­nounced the ap­point­ment of An­toine Da­her as Chief Executive Of­fi­cer, ef­fec­tive 1 De­cem­ber 2016, fol­low­ing the ap­proval of the Cen­tral Bank of Kuwait. Da­her, pre­vi­ously Gulf Bank’s Deputy CEO, suc­ceeds Ce­sar Gon­za­lez-Bueno who had been CEO since March 2014. Omar Ku­tayba Al­ghanim, Chair­man of Gulf Bank, com­mented on the ap­point­ment: “We are very pleased to wel­come An­toine Da­her as Gulf Bank’s new Chief Executive Of­fi­cer.

He has been part of the Bank’s se­nior man­age­ment team since 2013, and he has a track record of strong lead­er­ship, both within and out­side of Gulf Bank. His deep bank­ing and fi­nan­cial knowl­edge, com­bined with his thor­ough un­der­stand­ing of Kuwait and the re­gion, make him uniquely qual­i­fied to lead Gulf Bank into the fu­ture. The Bank’s Board of Di­rec­tors, man­age­ment team, and I are look­ing for­ward to work­ing closely with him in cre­at­ing the next chap­ter of the Gulf Bank suc­cess story.”

Da­her was as­signed the po­si­tion of Deputy CEO, Whole­sale Bank­ing at Gulf Bank in 2013. Prior to join­ing Gulf Bank, he served as Gen­eral Man­ager for Do­mes­tic Cor­po­rate Bank­ing at Na­tional Bank of Kuwait from 2011 to 2013 and Head of the Do­mes­tic Multi­na­tional unit from 2007 to 2011. Da­her also worked at Na­tional City Bank in the USA, where he held sev­eral po­si­tions in Project Fi­nance, Struc­tured Fi­nance, Cor­po­rate Bank­ing, and Cap­i­tal Mar­kets. Da­her holds a BSc in Civil En­gi­neer­ing, and an MBA from Case West­ern Re­serve Uni­ver­sity in Ohio. He has also at­tended Executive Ed­u­ca­tion cour­ses given by the Har­vard Business School.
