Po­lice banned from giv­ing unau­tho­rized me­dia state­ments

A de­ci­sion to ban In­te­rior Min­istry of­fi­cers from mak­ing unau­tho­rized pub­li­ca­tion and to main­tain the se­crecy of work was is­sued un­der the in­struc­tions of the Deputy Prime Min­is­ter In­te­rior Min­is­ter Sheikh Khaled Al-Jar­rah Al-Sabah and Un­der­sec­re­tary Lieu­tenant Gen­eral Suleiman Al-Fa­had yes­ter­day. The de­ci­sion stip­u­lates that mem­bers of the po­lice force, whether uni­formed or civil, are not al­lowed to:

- Write, give state­ments, pub­lish any opin­ions, re­search or col­umns, give in­ter­views or pub­lish any­thing on so­cial me­dia un­til af­ter ob­tain­ing per­mis­sion.

- Give any in­for­ma­tion re­lated to crimes to any me­dia out­let un­til ob­tain­ing spe­cial per­mis­sion from the re­la­tions and se­cu­rity in­for­ma­tion depart­ment.

- Pro­vid­ing the me­dia with any pic­tures, pa­pers or data about their work, ex­cept through the re­la­tions and se­cu­rity in­for­ma­tion depart­ment.

- Invit­ing me­dia mem­bers to ac­com­pany them while car­ry­ing out se­cu­rity mis­sions, which should main­tain com­plete se­crecy.
