Ministry to sponsors: Check maids’ residencies regularly
The Relations and Security Information Department at the Interior Ministry released a statement yesterday in which they asked citizens and expatriates to check the validity of their domestic helpers’ regularly passports and residencies to avoid legal liability. The department noticed an increase in the number of residency law violations lately, and found out that this happened due to sponsors forgetting to renew the residencies or because of the them being out of the country.
Assistant undersecretary for commercial supervision and consumer protection sector at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Eid Al-Rashidi said Al-Siddiq area emergency team uncovered a major commercial fraud involving a liquid soap product used to clean kitchenware. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the interior ministry. Rashidi said that an inspector was placed in a store in Shuwaikh that has been put under surveillance, and workers were seen placing liquid soap with unknown specifications and origin into bottle that carried the trademark of a famous and highly-popular brand. The team is preparing to take legal action against the warehouse officials.
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) received a call about a vehicle crashing into a light post near Sabah Al-Ahmad area. Wafra Fire station men responded and rescued the person. The driver sustained a broken femur and was taken to hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Hawally, Salmiya and technical rescue centers responded to a fire in a Hawally apartment. The building was evacuated, and the fire was put out. No injuries were reported.
The Interior Ministry’s Traffic Department carried out several surprise campaigns in six governorates resulting in issuing 35,795 tickets, impounding 52 vehicles and four motorcycles, detaining 26 people for committing grave violations, while seven expatriates were deported for driving without a license. Eighteen wanted vehicles were also caught.
