Min­istry to spon­sors: Check maids’ res­i­den­cies reg­u­larly

The Re­la­tions and Se­cu­rity In­for­ma­tion Depart­ment at the In­te­rior Min­istry re­leased a state­ment yes­ter­day in which they asked cit­i­zens and ex­pa­tri­ates to check the va­lid­ity of their do­mes­tic helpers’ reg­u­larly pass­ports and res­i­den­cies to avoid le­gal li­a­bil­ity. The depart­ment no­ticed an in­crease in the num­ber of res­i­dency law vi­o­la­tions lately, and found out that this hap­pened due to spon­sors for­get­ting to re­new the res­i­den­cies or be­cause of the them be­ing out of the coun­try.

Com­mer­cial fraud

As­sis­tant un­der­sec­re­tary for com­mer­cial su­per­vi­sion and con­sumer pro­tec­tion sec­tor at the Min­istry of Com­merce and In­dus­try Eid Al-Rashidi said Al-Sid­diq area emer­gency team un­cov­ered a ma­jor com­mer­cial fraud in­volv­ing a liq­uid soap prod­uct used to clean kitchen­ware. The op­er­a­tion was car­ried out in co­op­er­a­tion with the in­te­rior min­istry. Rashidi said that an in­spec­tor was placed in a store in Shuwaikh that has been put un­der sur­veil­lance, and work­ers were seen plac­ing liq­uid soap with un­known spec­i­fi­ca­tions and ori­gin into bot­tle that car­ried the trade­mark of a fa­mous and highly-pop­u­lar brand. The team is pre­par­ing to take le­gal ac­tion against the ware­house of­fi­cials.

Mo­torist in­jured

Kuwait Fire Ser­vice Direc­torate (KFSD) re­ceived a call about a ve­hi­cle crash­ing into a light post near Sabah Al-Ah­mad area. Wafra Fire sta­tion men re­sponded and res­cued the per­son. The driver sus­tained a bro­ken fe­mur and was taken to hospi­tal for treat­ment. Mean­while, Hawally, Salmiya and tech­ni­cal res­cue cen­ters re­sponded to a fire in a Hawally apart­ment. The build­ing was evac­u­ated, and the fire was put out. No in­juries were re­ported.

Traf­fic cam­paigns

The In­te­rior Min­istry’s Traf­fic Depart­ment car­ried out sev­eral sur­prise cam­paigns in six gov­er­norates re­sult­ing in is­su­ing 35,795 tick­ets, im­pound­ing 52 ve­hi­cles and four mo­tor­cy­cles, de­tain­ing 26 peo­ple for com­mit­ting grave vi­o­la­tions, while seven ex­pa­tri­ates were de­ported for driv­ing with­out a li­cense. Eigh­teen wanted ve­hi­cles were also caught.
