CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait ap­points new board of di­rec­tors

KUWAIT: CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait, CFA In­sti­tute’s lo­cal as­so­ci­a­tion of in­vest­ment pro­fes­sion­als con­sist­ing of port­fo­lio man­agers, fi­nan­cial an­a­lysts and in­vest­ment ad­vi­sors, has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of its new board of di­rec­tors. Mi­j­bel Al-Qat­tan, pre­vi­ously the so­ci­ety’s Vice Pres­i­dent, was ap­pointed by the newly elected board of di­rec­tors to take over the role from pre­vi­ous Pres­i­dent Rafik Hafez.

The new board, con­sist­ing of top pro­fes­sion­als from within the lo­cal fi­nance in­dus­try, re­flects both CFA In­sti­tute and CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait’s mis­sion of rais­ing pro­fes­sional and mar­ket stan­dards to sup­port the growth and de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try’s in­vest­ment sec­tor. The new mem­bers of the board are: * Mi­j­bel Al-Qat­tan, CFA, Pres­i­dent * Mo­ham­mad Al-Sar­raf, CFA, Vice Pres­i­dent and Trea­surer * Alaa Ab­del­rahim, CFA, Sec­re­tary * Anuj Te­wari, CFA, Board Mem­ber * Har­gur­mit Singh, CFA, Board Mem­ber * Robin Bhat­tacharya, CFA, Board Mem­ber Com­ment­ing on his new role, Mi­j­bel Al-Qat­tan, CFA, Pres­i­dent of CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait said: “I am hon­oured to be elected as Pres­i­dent of CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait and look for­ward to work­ing with the newly elected board, our mem­bers, lo­cal govern­ment en­ti­ties, reg­u­la­tors, ed­u­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions and the coun­try’s top firms as we con­tinue to up­hold the high­est stan­dards of pro­fes­sion­al­ism in Kuwait’s in­vest­ment com­mu­nity.”

He added: “Our pri­or­i­ties for the next year are to con­tinue to serve our mem­bers’ needs through the de­liv­ery of high qual­ity, pro­fes­sional pro­grams and to sup­port global ini­tia­tives geared to­wards in­vestor ed­u­ca­tion, in­vestor pro­tec­tion and eth­i­cal in­vest­ment prac­tices. We have also been proac­tive in help­ing aspir­ing young in­vest­ment pro­fes­sion­als at­tain the pres­ti­gious CFA Char­ter, which is recog­nised as the gold stan­dard in­vest­ment qual­i­fi­ca­tion around the world.”

Al-Qat­tan re­ceived his CFA Char­ter in 2009 and has served CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait in var­i­ous roles, in­clud­ing Vice Pres­i­dent and Ad­vo­cacy Chair. He is a Se­nior In­vest­ment Man­ager with Im­pulse In­ter­na­tional for Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions.

“I would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank the pre­vi­ous board and es­pe­cially Rafik Hafez, our pre­vi­ous so­ci­ety Pres­i­dent, for all his hard work in mak­ing it such an im­por­tant com­po­nent of the fi­nan­cial com­mu­nity over the past years. He will re­main an im­por­tant part of the work CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait will con­tinue to do,” con­cluded Al-Qat­tan.

CFA So­ci­ety Kuwait was founded in Au­gust 2008 and cur­rently has over 100 mem­bers.
