KSSC holds Kuwait 43rd Fish­ing Com­pe­ti­tion

Kuwait 43rd Fish­ing Com­pe­ti­tion was re­cently con­cluded with the an­nounce­ment of Mo­hammed Jassem Al-Shar­qawi as the grand prize win­ner af­ter com­pil­ing the high­est score of points at 1,610. He was fol­lowed by Mahdi Ab­dul Ghaf­far with 1,397 points, and Ali Mo­hammed Al-Khu­laifi and Ali Suleiman Al-Saeed with 980 points each. In terms of the to­tal weight of fish caught dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion, Fa­had Zaid AlSamhan fin­ished in first place with a to­tal of 21,900 kilo­grams of fish, fol­lowed by Yousif AlMa­jid with 20,900 kilo­grams and Sami Asaad Michael with 18,250 kilo­grams.

The one-day com­pe­ti­tion was or­ga­nized by Kuwait Sea Sports Club’s (KSSC) Marine Her­itage Com­mit­tee on Satur­day. It in­cluded 52 boats and 88 con­testers, and the fish­ing pe­riod lasted from early morn­ing till 4:00 pm. Af­ter the fish­ing pe­riod con­cluded, the par­tic­i­pants’ catches were weighed in and clas­si­fied at KSSC’s head­quar­ters on the Salmiya beach, un­der the su­per­vi­sion of a com­mit­tee headed by Tareq Al-Towheed from the Kuwait Fish­er­men Union, Cap­tain Khal­ifa AlRashed, fish­ing ex­pert Ma­jeed Sa­houd and the head of KSSC’s Her­itage Com­mit­tee Ali AlQa­bandi; who stressed that the catch mainly com­prised of sil­very croaker (Nuwaibi).
