Ger­man FM to visit Kuwait as part of Gulf tour

Ger­many’s For­eign Min­is­ter Sig­mar Gabriel will visit Kuwait this week as part of a Gulf tour. The Kuwaiti em­bassy in Berlin said in a state­ment that Gabriel re­ceived in Berlin last Mon­day Kuwait’s Min­is­ter of State for Cabi­net Af­fairs and Act­ing Min­is­ter of In­for­ma­tion Sheikh Mo­ham­mad AlAb­dul­lah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. The meet­ing dis­cussed means of pro­mot­ing bi­lat­eral ties. Sheikh Mo­ham­mad Al-Ab­dul­lah is on a tour that saw him also vis­it­ing Wash­ing­ton, London and Paris, to dis­cuss the lat­est de­vel­op­ments of the Gulf cri­sis. The coun­tries in­cluded so far in the min­is­ter’s tour have voiced sup­port to Kuwait’s ini­tia­tive to solve the cri­sis within the Gulf frame­work, with­out in­ter­fer­ence of any ex­ter­nal par­ties.

They also re­it­er­ated their com­mit­ment to co­or­di­nate and co­op­er­ate with the State of Kuwait in its me­di­a­tion push to lessen ten­sion in the re­gion. Gabriel has re­cently called for avoid­ing es­ca­la­tion, say­ing there were good op­por­tu­ni­ties for a progress to solve the cri­sis. The Ger­man For­eign Min­istry has re­cently voiced thanks to His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his me­di­a­tion ef­forts to con­clude a solution to the cri­sis. —KUNA
