Ser­bian Pres­i­dent re­ceives letter from Amir

Ser­bian Pres­i­dent Alek­san­dar Vu­cic met yes­ter­day with Kuwaiti Deputy For­eign Min­is­ter Khaled Al-Jar­al­lah, who handed Vu­cic a letter from His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Jar­al­lah de­parted Kuwait on Sun­day for Bel­grade, with an ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion com­pris­ing Kuwait’s As­sis­tant For­eign Min­is­ter for Euro­pean Af­fairs Am­bas­sador Waleed Al-Khubaizi and As­sis­tant For­eign Min­is­ter for the Deputy For­eign Min­is­ter’s Of­fice Af­fairs Am­bas­sador Ay­ham Al-Omar.

Mean­while, Ser­bian For­eign Min­is­ter Ivica Dacic heaped praise on Kuwait for its role as the main me­di­a­tor in the Gulf cri­sis, aim­ing to defuse ten­sions be­tween the Gulf neigh­bors. Jar­al­lah held talks with the Ser­bian of­fi­cial, read a state­ment by the Kuwaiti For­eign Min­istry. Dacic said that his coun­try was proud of its ties with Kuwait, which date back to 55 years ago and are on course for progress, the state­ment noted. Jar­al­lah also held talks with the State Sec­re­tary of the Ser­bian Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs Ne­manja Ste­vanovic. The meet­ing tack­led bi­lat­eral ties and re­flected a mu­tual de­sire to pro­pel re­la­tions be­tween both na­tions to new levels, read a state­ment by the Kuwaiti For­eign Min­istry. In the mean­time, Kuwait and Ser­bia signed mem­o­ran­dums of un­der­stand­ing (MoUs) for bi­lat­eral co­op­er­a­tion in the oil, en­ergy and cul­tural sec­tors. Jar­al­lah signed the deals on the Kuwaiti side, while the Ser­bian sig­na­to­ries were Min­is­ter of En­ergy and Min­ing Alek­san­dar An­tic and Min­is­ter of Cul­ture Vladan Vukosavl­je­vic. —KUNA
