Qatari Emir, French President support Kuwaiti mediation to resolve Gulf crisis
Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad Al Thani and French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need to resolve the Gulf crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means. They have also expressed full support to the Kuwaiti mediation led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah. These remarks were made by the two leaders during a phone conversation received by the Emir of Qatar from the French President on Monday, the Qatari News Agency (QNA) reported.
They have also discussed bilateral relations and joint efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its financial resources. Earlier in the day, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah received at Bayan Palace Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who handed His Highness a message from Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on Sunday accepted His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s request to extend the deadline given to Qatar to respond to the list of demands by 48 hours. —KUNA
