Backup lo­ca­tion se­cured for key petro­chem­i­cal project

Kuwait’s Mu­nic­i­pal Coun­cil agreed yes­ter­day to des­ig­nate a sub­sti­tute site for the Petro­chem­i­cals In­dus­tries Com­pany’s in­te­grated Olefins III and Aro­mat­ics II project, to be car­ried out within Al-Zour Re­fin­ery mega project. Head of Al-Ah­madi Gover­norate’s del­e­ga­tion Dr Mansour Al-Khu­rainej said that the coun­cil has ear­marked 11 lo­ca­tions in Hadiya area for con­verter sta­tions, “given the dearth of power sta­tions in the area.”

Mean­while, he re­vealed that the coun­cil has also obliged to Kuwait Na­tional Petroleum Com­pany’s re­quest to ex­pand its premises in Al-Ah­madi. On a re­lated note, the mu­nic­i­pal of­fi­cial pointed out that the coun­cil is look­ing fur­ther into plans to pri­va­tize in­dus­trial lands where sev­eral oil com­pa­nies op­er­ate.
