Kuwait 324

- By Nermin Al-Houti

August 2nd is here once again with all its painful memories to the people of Kuwait. We remember our martyrs and prisoners of war who will always be living in our memories. They are a beacon of a free Kuwait that was liberated from this heinous invasion.

Despite the pain and sadness that resides in Kuwaitis, Arabs and many people around the world, Kuwait remains with its steadfastness, hopes and men. That is the pearl of the Arabian Gulf, Kuwait with its knights who resisted the invading forces then, and continue to defend their homeland today to build a bright and a prosperous future for our generations. What happened on August 2, 1990 was not the first ordeal that Kuwait witnessed, and it was not the beginning of its men’s resistance movement, as many events happened before where Kuwait faced ordeals and remained standing as a minaret of peace and freedom for the entire world. This is Kuwait, and those are its men who sacrificed their lives for the sake of its freedom and sublime status under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the guardian of Kuwait’s security. His men remain vigilant to keep its stability so it remains an oasis of safety and security for the world.

Three hundred and twenty four months elapsed since the heinous invasion, and Kuwait has moved on with its march on the road of development and advancement. Furthermore, we have witnessed the developmental projects according to immediate, to medium and long term plans to fulfill the vision of HH the Amir of turning Kuwait into an attractive international financial center. This has been done by men who learned from the past and were wise in dealing with all types of circumstances. Men who have the decisiveness of the leader and the kindness of the father under the leadership of our father HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who is now known as the Humanitarian Leader of the world. Twenty seven years after the invasion, and we will always revive the memories of men and women who sacrificed their lives in defense of their countries, and Kuwait still has men who resist every day for the sake of Kuwait and its people.

A Final word: “I pray to Almighty Allah to guide you and protect our dear country, and preserve the bounty of security, safety and prosperity, and to bestow His mercy on the martyrs of our homeland.” - His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on June 4th, 2017.
