Kuwaiti shoot­ers power to vic­tory in Asian tour­ney

Kuwait clinched first place yes­ter­day in the team com­pe­ti­tion of the Sev­enth Asian Shot­gun Cham­pi­onship held in Kaza­khstan.

Ab­dul­rah­man Al-Fai­han and Sara AlHawal led their team to vic­tory, as South Korea and In­dia trailed in sec­ond and third place, re­spec­tively, Duaij Al-Otaibi, head of the Kuwait and Arab Shoot­ing Sports Fed­er­a­tions went on to ded­i­cate this mon­u­men­tal vic­tory to HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince, gov­ern­ment and Kuwaiti peo­ple. He told Kuna via tele­phone that 350 com­peti­tors rep­re­sent­ing 29 na­tions par­tic­i­pated in the tour­na­ment which is be­ing in Kazakh cap­i­tal.

Mean­while, Kuwaiti shoot­ers re­turned to the crown­ing stage on Tues­day un­der the Kuwaiti flag af­ter the ban was lifted.

Trap shooter Ab­del­rah­man Al-Fai­han won the in­di­vid­ual gold medal, fol­lowed by his team­mate Talal Ab­dal­lah Al-Rashidi, who won sil­ver.

The team of Ab­del­rah­man Al-Fai­han, Talal Al-Rashidi and Khalid Al-Mud­haf won the first place with 350 points, Le­banon took the sec­ond spot with 336 points and UAE with 331 points.

Hon­orary Pres­i­dent of Asian Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion Sheikh Sal­man Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hu­moud Al-Sabah at­tended the award­ing cer­e­mony. —KUNA
