Al-Muhallab Boom, a manifestation of Kuwaiti strength against Iraq invaders

Kuwait Times - - LOCAL -

Though the original Al-Muhallab boom was built in 1937, the wooden vessel evokes a different kind of sentiment amongst Kuwaitis who knew that the boat represents the strength of the country’s people against the Iraqi aggressors. During the invasion in 1990, Iraqi troops burned down the original Muhallab boom; however, the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah ordered the re-building of the ship in the mid-1990s as an act of defiance against those trying to erase Kuwait’s history and heritage. — KUNA
