EPA seeks hedge against oil spill

Kuwait’s En­vi­ron­ment Public Author­ity (EPA) said yes­ter­day it was tak­ing all ap­pro­pri­ate mea­sures in or­der to pro­tect wa­ter out­lets from an oil spill near Kuwait’s south­ern Ras Al-Zour area. The EPA said in a press re­lease that while it sought to de­ter­mine the source of the oil spill, it was tak­ing all nec­es­sary moves to safe­guard the area of wa­ter out­lets by us­ing rub­ber bumpers. It added that it was work­ing with the oil sec­tor, mainly the Kuwait Oil Com­pany (KOC) and Kuwait Na­tional Pe­tro­leum Com­pany (KNPC), to find the source of the oil spill and even de­ter­mine its ex­act size.
