WFP of­fi­cial praises KRCS ef­forts

KUWAIT: Direc­tor of World Food Pro­gram (WFP) Of­fice in UAE and WFP Rep­re­sen­ta­tive in Gulf Co­op­er­a­tion Coun­cil (GCC) Ab­dul-Ma­jid Yahiya yes­ter­day praised Kuwait Red Cres­cent So­ci­ety’s (KRCS) role in ca­pa­bil­ity-build­ing, part­ner­ships and co­or­di­na­tion in hu­man­i­tar­ian work.

Yahiya said af­ter a meet­ing with KRCS Sec­re­tary­Gen­eral Maha l-Bar­jas that Kuwait is one of the lead­ing coun­tries in hu­man­i­tar­ian work lo­cally, re­gion­ally and glob­ally. KRCS plays a spe­cial role in pro­mot­ing hu­man­i­tar­ian work in the Gaza Strip and help­ing in pro­vid­ing a de­cent life for Pales­tini­ans ev­ery­where, Yahiya added.

Mean­while, Bar­jas wel­comed the WFP of­fi­cial, hail­ing the WFP’s ef­forts to reach im­por­tant goals, and the pro­gram’s co­op­er­a­tion with KRCS in help­ing peo­ple in need all over the world. She stressed that KRCS seeks to con­tinue its co­op­er­a­tion with re­gional and in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions to achieve its goals to meet the needs of suf­fer­ing peo­ple all over the world. — KUNA
