Num­ber of tourists from UK, USA and Fin­land stay­ing in Latvia in­creases

A to­tal of 862.3 thou­sand vis­i­tors stayed at Lat­vian ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments over Q3 2016. The av­er­age du­ra­tion of a vis­i­tor’s stay at an ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ment was 1.9 nights.

Over Q3, 584.9 thou­sand for­eign vis­i­tors were hosted at ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments, of whom 32.2% were vis­i­tors from neigh­bour­ing coun­tries – of the to­tal num­ber of for­eign vis­i­tors 11.7% were from Rus­sia, 10.6 % from Lithua­nia, 8.1% from Es­to­nia and 1.8% from Be­larus, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est data from the Cen­tral Sta­tis­ti­cal Bureau of Latvia.

Most of the for­eign vis­i­tors in Q3 came from Ger­many (82.8 thou­sand) and our neigh­bour­ing coun­tries – Rus­sia (68.6 thou­sand), Lithua­nia (61.8 thou­sand) and Es­to­nia (47.6 thou­sand). There has been a sig­nif­i­cant in­crease in the num­ber of vis­i­tors from the United King­dom (of 28.6%), the USA (of 24%), Fin­land (of 22.2%), Den­mark (21.6%), as well as Poland (of 19.6%), Spain (of 18.1%) and Italy (of 16.4%). The num­ber of vis­i­tors from Rus­sia has re­mained at the level of Q3 the pre­vi­ous year (a drop of 0.1%). There were less for­eign vis­i­tors from Swe­den (by 12.1 %), Switzer­land (by 5.2%), Ja­pan (by 4.7%) and the Czech Repub­lic (by 4%). In de­tails watch on-line ver­sion.
