Maxima Latvia was accepted as a member of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia. Over the past seven years, the company has invested EUR 43 million in Latvia, as reported by Maxima representatives.

«Becoming a member of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia is only logical for us because we’ve been present on the Latvian market for more than 15 years,» comments Maxima Latvia Andris Vilcmeiers.

Zlata Elksnina-Zacirinska, chairperson of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia, explains: «We are satisfied that the council has accepted three new members at the beginning of the year – Maxima Latvia, Ragn-Sells and Afi Europe. Our main objective is to improve the business environment and investment climate in Latvia in close cooperation with Latvian government. We accomplish that by coming up with specific proposals and recommendations and analyzing the situation in Latvia and foreign countries.» Vilcmeiers says that the company has been in the process of major changes since 2014. «We are changing the company’s internal culture, business approach and dialogue with partners. A greater degree of transparency, more active participation in social and economic processes is part of it,» Vilcmeiers said.
