LMT installs the first mobile 5G connection station in Latvia
Latvijas Mobilais Telefons has installed the first 5G technologies compatible mobile communications station in Latvia, as confirmed by the company.
As it is known, LMT and Nokia telecommunications network infrastructure manufacturer plan to be among the first to introduce 5G in Europe. The first 5G connection station has been installed at the new Natural Sciences Centre of the University of Latvia in Tornakalns.
‘It is symbolical for the first 5G connection station to be set up at the University of Latvia – an institution with strong academic and research traditions. Latvia as a country of smart technologies has clever people, innovative technologies and powerful partnership in the base of its development potential. We will continue establishing new 5G-capable stations across all of Latvia this year,’ comments LMT president Juris Binde. Mobile network representatives note that 5G is believed to be the engine for a new industrial revolution to help automate complicated tasks.
Nokia and LMT agreed on partnership for the development and testing of 5G technologies. LMT also cooperates with Riga Technical University in research of 5G technologies and introduction of usable models.
