Residents’ interest towards sustainable lifestyle, including technologies that support it, there has been an increase in the number of hybrid cars sold in Latvia.

Because of that, the number of Lexus hybrid cars sold in Latvia in the past five years has increased 34%, as BNN was informed by the company.

«150 hybrid cars are sold in Latvia on average every year. It is also noteworthy that over the course of the past twelve years since Lexus first started offering such cars, they remain in demand the most in Latvia among all Baltic States,» as Ingus Seleznevs, manager of Automobile Trading.

Since 2006 to March 2017, a total of 1,321 premium-class hybrid cars have been registered in Latvia. 1,300 of those vehicles were manufactured by Lexus. 944 hybrid cars were registered in Estonia and 893 in Lithuania in the same period of time.

«One of the advantages offered by hybrid vehicles is that they are powerful and offer balanced and quiet driving experience. But we also see that drivers often pick diesel and petrol engine vehicles without fully considering the advantages provided by hybrid cars. We can say from experience that drivers who pick hybrid cars definitely pick their new cars with hybrid engine,» comments Amserv Motors board member Armands Vimba.

Since 2005, when the market was first presented with RX 400h, more than a million Lexus hybrid cars have been sold all over the world. The victory march of hybrid technologies in Latvia shows that 88.89% of Lexus cars that were sold on this market until now were hybrid cars. «Lexus hybrid models have received a lot of praise from clients thanks to their low fuel consumption, reduced CO2 emissions, quiet engine, confortable seats and reliable functionality,» the company notes.
