The majority of residents in Latvia do not support the idea of legalizing the use of marijuana in the country, according to data from a survey performed by SKDS.

In July, residents were asked if they think marijuana should be legalized in Latvia.

Residents’ opinion on this matter remains unchanged – the absolute majority or 84% of residents believe use of marijuana should not be legalized. Since 2010, when the survey was performed the first time, the proportion of residents who are against legalization of marijuana has ranged between 81% and 88% and reaching the maximum in 2015.

Only 9% of residents who participated in the survey this year voiced the opposite opinion. 7% of residents could not provide a clear answer to this question.
