Riga tourist stay num­bers up by 7%

In the ho­tels and other ac­com­mo­da­tion places of the Lat­vian cap­i­tal, Riga, the num­ber of tourists from abroad stay­ing dur­ing the se­cond quar­ter of 2018 has reached 419 000, which is by 7% more than in the re­spec­tive pe­riod last year.

The data by the Cen­tral Sta­tis­ti­cal Bureau of Latvia as sum­marised by the Riga Tourism De­vel­op­ment Bureau, showed that the num­ber of to­tal nights spent in Riga has reached a to­tal of 786 125 in the se­cond three-month pe­riod of 2018.

It is a 9% in­crease, when com­pared to the se­cond quar­ter of 2017. As to the coun­tries, where the vis­i­tors have come from in April-June this year, Ger­many stands out with 13.3%. Rus­sia came se­cond with 9.6% of the guests, fol­lowed by Lithua­nia, the UK and Fin­land with 6.3-6.4% each.
