Spend­ing by for­eign­ers in Lithua­nia grows 4 per cent

For­eign tourists and other vis­i­tors from abroad spent a to­tal of 1.095 bil­lion Euros in Lithua­nia last year, up by 4 per cent, from 1.053 bil­lion Euros spent in 2015, data from Statis­tics Lithua­nia showed. Spend­ing by for­eign trav­ellers with at least one overnight stay in­creased by an an­nual 5 per cent to 806.4 mil­lion Euros and spend­ing by same-day for­eign tourists was up by 1.3 per cent to 288.6 mil­lion Euros, the of­fice said. The to­tal num­ber of in­com­ing trips with overnight stays grew by 10.8 per cent to 2.296 mil­lion in 2016 year-on-year, while pri­vate trips with at least one overnight stay ac­counted for 72.2 per cent of all travel last year and busi­ness trips made 27.8 per cent. Most of the tourists with at least one overnight stay last year came from Be­larus (394,800, or 17 per cent of the to­tal in­com­ing tourist flow), Latvia, (274,100, or 12 per cent), Rus­sia (216,800, or 9 per cent), Ger­many (203,000, or 9 per cent) and Poland (196,900, or 9 per cent).
