The Baltic Times - - OUR COMMENTARY - LETA/TBT Staff

Saeima in the third and final reading today adopted legislative amendments that support the proposal of MP Ints Dalderis (Unity) to publish salary data of all central and local government employees on the Internet. According to the current legislation, only salaries of officials of state institutions are public. The new amendments will provide that all state institutions every month will have to publish salaries and other payments made to all officials and employees, stating their name, surname, position and the sum of the money paid. The Cabinet of Ministers will decide on institutions, officials and employees to which this legislative norm will not refer due to security reasons.
