EUR 1.9 bn worth of EU co-fi­nanced projects ap­proved in Latvia so far

By July 19 this year, the Lat­vian Cen­tral Fi­nance and Con­tract­ing Agency (CFLA) has ap­proved EU co-fi­nanced projects worth more than EUR 1.9 bil­lion which is equal to 44.1 per cent of the to­tal EU fund­ing avail­able to Latvia in the amount of EUR 4.4 bil­lion. The Fi­nance Min­istry said that EUR 382.5 mil­lion or 8.7 per cent of the fi­nanc­ing had been dis­bursed so far. There is ac­tive work on launch and im­ple­men­ta­tion of projects. The big­gest progress in June and the first half of July was made in the projects con­cern­ing trans­porta­tion, wa­ter man­age­ment, en­vi­ron­ment and ter­ri­to­rial de­vel­op­ment, voc­tional ed­u­ca­tion and health pro­mo­tion. Fi­nance Min­istry’s and CFLA sup­port to the se­cond stage of liq­ui­da­tion of acid waste ponds in In­cukalns, and sub­mis­sion of the project to the Euro­pean Com­mis­sion for ap­proval in the sta­tus of large projects is a con­sid­er­able step in en­vi­ron­ment pro­tec­tion, said the min­istry. An­other sig­nif­i­cant project is con­struc­tion of a mul­ti­modal trans­port hub in Tor­nakalns.
