Smart Dubai and 1776 Blockchain Chal­lenge Open

For all star­tups us­ing blockchain technology to trans­form an in­dus­try, the Smart Dubai Of­fice (SDO) and 1776 will or­ga­nize the Blockchain Chal­lenge in May for the pur­pose of meet­ing world-lead­ing in­vestors, net­work­ing with VIPS, con­nect­ing with cus­tomers, and win­ning prizes and po­ten­tial con­tracts to be part of Dubai’s re­cently launched Block chain Strat­egy. Dubai aims to be­come the first block chain­pow­ered city by 2020 based on 3 pil­lars: Gov­ern­ment Ef­fi­ciency: im­ple­ment­ing blockchain technology in gov­ern­ment ser­vices; In­dus­try Cre­ation: sup­port­ing the cre­ation of a blockchain in­dus­try through em­pow­er­ing star­tups and busi­nesses; and Thought Lead­er­ship: lead­ing the global think­ing on blockchain technology. Startup ap­pli­cants must be im­ple­ment­ing blockchain technology in their so­lu­tions or prod­ucts to be ac­cepted in the com­pe­ti­tion in ad­di­tion to be­ing for-profit busi­nesses, hav­ing scal­able prod­ucts or ser­vices that should be pos­si­ble to im­ple­ment in Dubai – to en­hance the qual­ity of life. Fi­nal­ists will re­ceive pitch train­ing at 1776 by men­tors and ex­perts, have a one-month 1776 mem­ber­ship, and will pitch and show­case to an au­di­ence of in­vestors, VCS, dig­ni­taries, and pub­lic/pri­vate sec­tor rep­re­sen­ta­tives. Win­ners will re­ceive prize money (first place $20,000, sec­ond place: $15,000, and third place: $10,000) have a 3 month 1776 mem­ber­ship, will have a meet­ing sched­uled with po­ten­tial clients with the sup­port of SDO, and will re­ceive pro­mo­tion on 1776’s chan­nels.
