Air­bus is also in­de­pen­dently de­vel­op­ing an AAV in an ef­fort to ease con­ges­tion by tak­ing daily com­mut­ing to the sky. As Air­bus gets closer to its first test flight, the com­pany has stated that a ride in their ve­hi­cle will be as cheap as tak­ing a taxi per mile. Air­bus is also the first com­pany to re­lease an ex­pected price for its ser­vice, es­ti­mat­ing costs be­tween $1.50 and $2.50 per mile.

The elec­tric air­craft, called Project Va­hana, will also fly au­tonomously. Air­bus’ first pro­to­type is said to have a range of 50 kilo­me­ters; how­ever, the fi­nal ver­sion, which is set to hit the mar­ket in 2020, will be ca­pa­ble of achiev­ing a dis­tance of 100 kilo­me­ters.
