Odds and Ends
It may sound like an oxymoronic mouthful but working out how to pull off a romantic punk bohemian look should be a the top of your to do list this autumn.
When it comes to trends we have grown to rely on our friends at Net-a-porter to bring us up to speed. “The big story in fashion right now is individualism and personal style,” says Lisa Aiken, the company’s Retail Fashion Director. “Trends do exist but putting together a look should feel far more spontaneous, as though you have effortlessly thrown together a few different ideas and reference points.” Essentially, if you’re a bohemian at heart and you love a print maxi then go ahead and give it a darker, punkish twist by adding a splash of velvet. Perhaps even ground it with some heavy-duty ankle boots. And if you really want to go all out then throw in some fishnets and a 1990s-esque choker for good measure. “One of my favourite new designers is Magda Butrym,” continues Aiken, “and she perfectly captures the mood using cutouts and metal trims on what would otherwise be a light-hearted crochet summer dress.” There you have it.
