Combining modesty, chic layering and subtle glamour, here’s how to dress this Ramadan.
Already in full swing, Ramadan is a time of fasting and contemplation punctuated in the evenings by festive gatherings of family and friends, but it has also emerged as a month of extravagant spending almost rivalling Christmas these days. Not one to miss a beat, Net-a-Porter, “the world’s biggest luxury fashion store”, unveiled a new summer campaign of modest-wear to coincide with the start of the Holy Month. It features model Blanca Padilla wearing brands like Chloé, Prada, Lanvin, Lemaire, The Row and Aquazzurra. Interestingly however, none of the clothes are specific to the region, so in essence this is simply an exercise in styling, craftily designed to appeal to the region’s online shoppers. We think it’s a great idea and here’s our pick of the bunch.
Clockwise from top left: (1) Hilllier Bartley pinstriped pants, 900 USD. (2) Stella Mccartney crepe de chine blouse, 545 USD. (3) The Row satin-trimmed bouclé coat, 11,000 USD. (4) Prada leather pointtoe flats, 570 USD. (5) Charlotte Chesnais gold-dipped two-finger ring, 480 USD. All items are from www.netaporter.com 5
