Back at It
Once upon a time, Carl Suchy & Söhne was the most important watchmaker in the Austro-hungarian Empire but, along with the Habsburg dynasty, it disappeared in 1918. Surprisingly, the Austro-swiss brand has been resurrected though, and its first watch, the Waltz No. 1, boasts an elegant design with a 41mm steel case, a custom-made mechanical self-winding movement, a striking guilloché pattern on the dial, a seconds indicator in the form of a turning ‘waltzing’ circle, as well as a black leather strap. With a price tag of 6,500 USD, it’s almost too good to be true.
