IWC Schaffhausen’s big news at SIHH this year was the launch of the new Da Vinci collection. To fête the occasion, the Swiss brand (founded in 1868 by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones) organised a gala event to which it invited over a thousand guests and brand ambassadors, including the Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, the three-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and the Lebanese-australian beauty queen Jessica Kahawaty. “The new collection is a modern interpretation of the iconic Da Vinci design from the 1980s. Along with some haute horlogerie innovations, the new collection includes references that have been designed deliberately with women in mind,” explained Georges Kern, the brand’s outgoing CEO (who was replaced in March by Chris Grainger-herr). Our favourite of these new ladies Da Vinci timepieces is the 36mm Automatic Moon Phase in 18-karat red gold. It comes with a bronze-coloured Santoni aligator strap and costs 16,400 USD.
