IWC Schaffhausen’s big news at SIHH this year was the launch of the new Da Vinci col­lec­tion. To fête the oc­ca­sion, the Swiss brand (founded in 1868 by Amer­i­can watch­maker Florentine Ariosto Jones) or­gan­ised a gala event to which it in­vited over a thou­sand guests and brand am­bas­sadors, in­clud­ing the Brazil­ian su­per­model Adri­ana Lima, the three-time For­mula 1 cham­pion Lewis Hamil­ton and the Le­banese-aus­tralian beauty queen Jes­sica Ka­hawaty. “The new col­lec­tion is a mod­ern in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the iconic Da Vinci de­sign from the 1980s. Along with some haute hor­logerie in­no­va­tions, the new col­lec­tion in­cludes ref­er­ences that have been de­signed de­lib­er­ately with women in mind,” ex­plained Ge­orges Kern, the brand’s out­go­ing CEO (who was re­placed in March by Chris Grainger-herr). Our favourite of these new ladies Da Vinci time­pieces is the 36mm Au­to­matic Moon Phase in 18-karat red gold. It comes with a bronze-coloured San­toni ali­ga­tor strap and costs 16,400 USD.
