Dior never ceases to amaze when it comes to whimsical and decorative watches. This year, the Parisian couturier debuted Grand Soir Botanic, a collection of eight one-off watches inspired by a fairy tale garden. Unusually for a jeweller taking on a floral motif, the brand avoided delving too deeply into any particular flower and has instead created its own dazzlingly precious representations of exotic blossoms. Oddly though, and despite a starting price of 240,000 USD, the watches are all quartz. This was apparently done with good reason – the aim was to mix the high-end with the functional and it’s something that’s also reflected in the choice of midnight blue strap (made from the same breathable, synthetic material used in trainers). Nevertheless, in the grand scheme of things, these singularities make sense and we appreciate how they’d want the focus to remain on the stunning dials and cases.
