Spinning Out

Bespoke - - SHOOT -

Ressence is a fast emerging watch brand that was started in 2010 by a Belgian industrial designer, Benoît Mintiens, who had been making a name for himself with high-speed trains, aircraft cabins, medical devices and even hunting guns, well before he tried his hand at watches. Developed around the concept of rotating discs (rather than hands) to indicate time, the brand’s latest watch is the 41mm Type 1 Squared. It bears a number of similarities to the brand’s seminal Type 1 except it’s based on a thinner and more recherché cushionshaped case, and is crafted from stainless steel instead of titanium. Finished with an interchangeable bracelet system, and available in four colourways, the watch is powered by a customised version of the ubiquitous ETA-2824 automatic movement, has a 36-hour power reserve and costs 21,500 USD.
